LEGO builds a tiny Queen Elizabeth II, over 40 diamonds in her crown!

Here at NoCo Gold & Diamond we usually prefer to offer cash for diamonds when they aren’t mounted in plastic, but this is a great little piece that we’d love the opportunity to snap up.   Lego has released a miniature model of Queen Elizabeth II in time for her Diamond Jubilee. The mini-monarch was first revealed the public yesterday at the Windsor, England Legoland location.

What exactly is a Diamond Jubilee? In Queen Elizabeth II’s, it’s a little more than a typical gold party. A Diamond Jubilee is actually the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the accession of a monarch. As one can imagine, these celebrations are extremely rare, and the only other monarch in the history of the UK that has had one was Queen Victoria in 1897.

The figurine, which is displayed in a matching Lego model of Buckingham Palace, sports a white dress decorated with a blue sash, and has a miniature crown adorned with real diamonds sitting atop its head.  Jewelry buyers and aficionados would be surprised to learn that while the figure is only 1.5 centimeters tall, it contains 48 diamonds, making this Lego figurine a little higher budget than the kind that come in most Lego packs.

We have to hand it Lego, it’s not easy to fit that many diamonds into a single piece, much less the tiny crown that is adorned on the plastic Queen’s head, and it brings us back to a simpler time where pretending to be an architect was one of the staples of childhood. Jewelry buyers across the world would love to pay cash for diamonds if it meant they could hold onto such a unique piece that contains some childhood nostalgia that doubles as a great representation of pop culture history. It makes us consider having a Lego themed gold party ourselves!

Queen Elizabeth II isn’t alone in her royal Legoland either, the figurine stands alongside notable replicas of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Prince Charles; Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Prince William; Kate, Duchess of Cambridge; and Prince Harry.
