How To Become an Expert Caretaker of Your Diamond
At NoCo Gold & Diamond, our job is to answer questions like, “Where do I sell my silver?” Or, “Can you tell me where to sell my diamonds?” We excel in helping our clientele host gold parties, or sell their old jewelry and gold. But what if you are not looking to sell your diamond, but just need information to help provide expert for care for it? Well, we can help you there, too. This blog will give you some tips on keeping your diamond clean and in top-notch and dazzling shape.
Cleanliness is Next to…Glittering-ness?
When you wear your diamond on a regular basis, you expose it to many elements, such as household chemicals, creams and perfumes, and your own skin oils. Over time these can cause a dull buildup that will diminish the dazzling beauty and sparkle of your diamond. To keep your diamond looking beautiful and well taken care of, here a few tips:
Gently scrub your diamond with a soft-bristled toothbrush dipped in a solution made up of a few drops of ammonia and warm water. When every facet is clean, rinse and dry with a soft, clean cloth.
Don’t over handle your diamond. Skin oils and lotions can dull your diamond’s brilliance.
Inspect for fragile prongs and settings. Be especially gentle with estate or heirloom jewelry whose settings may already be fragile. They will not hold up to brush scrubbing. Clean them gently.
Don’t use harsh chemicals or solutions. Some chemicals, such as household bleach, can eventually erode the metals used to secure your diamond and may loosen the setting or prongs.
Having Your Diamond Cleaned Professionally
Visit your jeweler at least once a year to have your diamond cleaned and inspected professionally. Most of the time these services are included in your warranty and service plan. Also, sometimes the situation (or relationship) in which you received your diamond may have changed, and your jeweler can tell you how and where to sell diamonds for the best price – like at gold parties or online.
Preparing Diamond Jewelry to Sell
Following the above tips is the best way to keep your diamonds (and other jewelry) in top-notch shape.
Over the years here at NoCo we’ve had plenty of people find out where to sell their diamonds, learn how to host gold parties, or be able to get answers for other questions like, “Where do I sell my silver?” or “How do I care for my diamond?” At NoCo, we are in the business of answering questions about your gold, silver, and diamonds – and how to take care of them.
